9:15 to 3: 145.5 miles
Highway 101
Stopped at Hampton Inn and Suites
We meandered south again on Highway 101 and through two more Redwood Forests. We can't remember if we have driven this section of 101 because typically we would drive the coast whenever possible. Very curvy and goes from two lane, to 4 lane to 4 lane divided. We decided we would stop in Ukiah and have a good walk and back stretch.
Since walking outside was not an option because of the smoke, we looked up a Walmart and went there for a 20 minute walk (as much as tolerable what with screaming kids, yelling parents, etc.)
We originally thought we would stay around Santa Rosa but no campgrounds near the area so we decided maybe it was time to go to the coast. We've always wanted to stay in Bodega Bay so I called and all campgrounds are booked (Friday night of course, doesn't help). By this time, it was getting close to 3 pm, we were tired, hot, needed to get out of the RV and decided to just get a hotel. But instead of going into big city Santa Rosa we stopped in Windsor. Very cute place.
Congratulations to my brother Rob on his final day of formal employment and the beginning of a new career, or maybe multiple careers ....

| You can just see the outline of the hills outside Ukiah - very smokey to the eye and the nose |
