8:30-2:30: 94.4 miles
Hwy 101
Stopped at Benbow KOA
Another obligatory stop whenever traveling Highway 101 is Ferndale. Also known as Victorian Ferndale because of the many Victorian homes and buildings. It's a charming little town.
When we were parking the RV a horse trailer pulled into the parking lot with two police and saddled horses. We then saw a group of musicians in a red uniform and a group of children in some kind of uniform. Obviously something was going on.
Turns out it is day 1 of the Humbolt County Fair and it was kicking off with a small parade in Ferndale. The operative word is "small parade" as it lasted under 2 minutes - but very cute and Norm recorded it. Wifi so painfully slow that gave up trying to upload today.
Then it was time to go through Humbolt Redwood State Forest and of course, we took the scenic drive through which took quite a while. We listened to a podcast from The Moth as we drove along and it was a perfect combination of senses.
Got this photo from Dayna today ...
It's been a hoot and an experience in this Thor. If we have a campsite with cable, we can access that on 3 TV's so we can each watch something and not interfere with the other. If there is no cable but there is wifi, we connect the laptop to the TV and can then stream anything through the computer. If there is no cable and no wifi we connect the laptop to the TV and watch dvd's. We also have two radios and can connect a cell phone to either of those systems to hear podcasts. AMAZING to have all these options. We can also sit outside and just breathe in whatever our environment. AMAZING!
